Pikovaya Dama — Пиковая Дама, or Queen of Spades — connects the perfume house Novaya Zarya with the world of Russian literature and theatre.
Literature and commemoration
The name refers to Pushkin’s The Queen of Spades, also the subject of Tchaikovsky’s opera. A museum account associates commemorative editions with Pushkin’s 150th birthday in 1949 and the opera’s 60th anniversary in 1950. These references do not establish the date of every edition or of the bottle in this photograph.
In Olga’s collection
Playing-card imagery links the packaging and the decorative objects in the photograph to that literary world. The smaller card-themed bottle is part of the arrangement; its appearance alone does not identify its original contents.
The photograph records objects from Olga’s own collection. Their precise production dates and a reliable note pyramid for the perfume shown remain unconfirmed.
